Built in 1764 by Benjamin Sherman, carpenter of the hamlet of Quaker Hill, this "framed house of timber" was the meeting place for members of the Religious Society of Friends. Quaker Hill, located in the town of Pawling NY, was part of the narrow strip of land forming the border of New York and Connecticut known as the Oblong region.
